Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cabinet Maker / Carpenter to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves the precise fabrication and assembly of bespoke wooden components for a variety of projects, from custom kitchens and wardrobes to intricate architectural joinery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in traditional and modern woodworking techniques, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings. Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce custom cabinetry and furniture components.
- Select, prepare, and cut various materials including hardwoods, softwoods, veneers, and composite panels.
- Operate a range of woodworking machinery (e.g., panel saws, spindle moulders, planers, thicknessers) and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform precise jointing, shaping, sanding, and assembly of wooden parts.
- Ensure all products meet the highest standards of quality and finish.
- Conduct quality control checks at various stages of the manufacturing process.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other team members to meet project deadlines and specifications.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Cabinet Maker or Carpenter in a workshop setting.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings and specifications.
- Expertise in operating a wide range of woodworking machinery and hand tools.
- Strong knowledge of different wood species, materials, and their applications.
- Exceptional precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Solid understanding of mathematical calculations and measurement techniques relevant to woodworking.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive work ethic.
- Eligibility for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Wood Occupations, City & Guilds in Bench Joinery, or an equivalent woodworking qualification.
- Experience with CAD software for design interpretation or production planning.
- Previous experience in the production of high-end, luxury bespoke furniture or architectural joinery.
