Job Description
Oversee and optimize the daily operations of a large national transport fleet from our Gold Coast hub. This senior role involves strategic planning, operational efficiency, and team leadership to ensure seamless logistics and exceptional service delivery. You will be instrumental in managing fleet performance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of fleet coordinators and drivers, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
- Optimize fleet utilization, maintenance schedules, and route planning to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Ensure strict compliance with all national transport regulations, Chain of Responsibility laws, and internal safety standards.
- Monitor key fleet performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
- Oversee budget management for fleet operations, including fuel consumption, maintenance, and personnel costs.
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers for fleet services, parts, and equipment to secure optimal terms.
- Implement new technologies and innovative strategies to enhance overall operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and operational reliability across all transport activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in fleet management, specifically within a national transport or large-scale logistics operation.
- Strong understanding of Australian transport legislation, heavy vehicle national law, and safety regulations.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Proficiency in modern fleet management software and advanced logistics systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex operational challenges.
- Solid communication, negotiation, and interpersonal capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets and operational costs effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with advanced telematics, GPS tracking, and route optimization software.
- Certifications in lean logistics, Six Sigma, or supply chain management.
- Demonstrated success in reducing operational costs, improving fleet efficiency, and enhancing safety records.
