Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Fluid Dynamics & CFD Intern to join our dynamic aerospace engineering team in Stockport. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) applied to complex aerospace challenges. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to real-world projects, analyzing airflow phenomena, and optimizing designs for performance and efficiency. This is an entry-level position perfect for students eager to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, industry-leading environment. Full training and mentorship will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and setup of CFD models for aerospace components.
- Perform simulations and post-process results under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Analyze fluid flow characteristics, pressure distributions, and thermal effects.
- Contribute to the interpretation of simulation data and generation of technical reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate CFD insights into design iterations.
- Support validation efforts by comparing simulation results with experimental data.
- Participate in team meetings and present findings when required.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Fundamental understanding of fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles.
- Familiarity with CFD concepts and basic numerical methods.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous academic project experience with CFD software (e.g., Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+).
- Basic CAD software exposure (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo).
