Job Description
Are you passionate about food presentation and have an eye for detail? Asda’s in-house creative team is seeking a dedicated Food Styling Assistant to support our commercial productions. This entry-level ‘Creative Prep Role’ is perfect for someone eager to learn the art and science of food styling for film and photography. You will play a crucial role behind the scenes, ensuring food items are perfectly prepared and presented to capture their best on camera for our TV advertisements, online content, and promotional materials. This is a hands-on position requiring meticulous organisation, creative thinking, and a willingness to work collaboratively in a fast-paced studio environment. Full training will be provided to help you develop specialized skills in food handling, preparation, and styling techniques specifically for commercial media.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Lead Food Stylists with the procurement, handling, and preparation of food items for shoots.
- Washing, chopping, peeling, and cooking ingredients according to styling briefs and recipes.
- Ensuring food items are fresh, visually appealing, and meet specific brand standards for shoots.
- Organising and maintaining the food prep area, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Supporting on-set with maintaining food appearance, making minor adjustments, and refreshing elements as needed.
- Managing inventory of styling tools, props, and food ingredients.
- Assisting with post-shoot clean-up, dishwashing, and proper storage/disposal of food and equipment.
- Learning and applying various food styling techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals.
- Collaborating effectively with the wider production team, including photographers, videographers, and art directors.
