Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Taxidermy & Museum Preparation Intern to join our dedicated team. This entry-level internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain foundational hands-on experience in the specialized fields of taxidermy, specimen preparation, and collection management within a leading natural history institution. The intern will work closely with experienced conservators and preparators, learning essential techniques for preserving a wide range of biological specimens. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with a strong interest in natural sciences and museum work but no prior professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior preparators and conservators with various aspects of specimen preparation, including cleaning, rehydration, and basic mounting.
- Learn and apply fundamental techniques in taxidermy, skeletal articulation, and fluid preservation under direct supervision.
- Handle and document incoming and outgoing specimens, ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to collection protocols.
- Participate in the maintenance and organization of the lab space and preparation equipment.
- Help with the preparation of specimens for research, exhibition, or educational outreach programs.
- Conduct basic research on preparation techniques and materials as guided by mentors.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment, strictly following health and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in natural history, biology, zoology, or related fields.

- Ability to follow precise instructions and work meticulously.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with drawing, sculpting, or other artistic endeavors.
