Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Government Funded Youth Worker to join our team in Savannah. This crucial role involves directly engaging with youth during evening and weekend hours, when they are most in need of structured, positive activities and mentorship. You will be instrumental in implementing programs funded by government initiatives, designed to foster personal growth, academic achievement, and positive social behaviors among young people aged 6-18. This position requires a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment, acting as a role model, and inspiring our members to envision and achieve a brighter future.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead engaging educational, recreational, and cultural activities for club members.
- Provide guidance and mentorship, fostering positive relationships and promoting conflict resolution skills.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all club members, maintaining a secure and positive environment.
- Supervise youth effectively during all program activities, including field trips and special events.
- Implement and track progress for government-funded programs, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding member progress and club activities.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, program participation, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with other staff members and community partners to enhance program offerings.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Work primarily during evening and weekend shifts, adapting to the varying needs of youth programs.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth in a structured environment (e.g., after-school programs, camps, community centers).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups of youth, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to manage and supervise groups of children and adolescents effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work consistent evening and weekend shifts.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field.
- Experience with government-funded programs or grant reporting.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
- Crisis prevention and intervention training.
- Valid Georgia driver's license with a clean driving record.
