Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare Administrator / Director to lead and manage key operational areas within our Irvine Medical Center. This pivotal role, operating under a Chief of Staff (CoS) structure, requires a visionary leader capable of optimizing healthcare delivery, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The Director will be instrumental in strategic planning, resource allocation, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency. You will drive initiatives that enhance patient satisfaction, streamline workflows, and support the overall mission of Kaiser Permanente to deliver excellent and integrated healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily administrative and operational functions of assigned departments or service lines, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational goals.
  • Manage departmental budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation effectively to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare leaders to optimize patient care pathways, improve clinical outcomes, and enhance service coordination.
  • Analyze operational data, metrics, and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Represent the facility in various internal and external meetings, committees, and community initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe, high-quality, and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors, upholding all safety and infection control protocols.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities within a complex healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, Joint Commission), and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent financial management, budget oversight, and resource allocation skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to drive operational efficiency, process improvement, and strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic planning, critical thinking, and advanced problem-solving expertise.
  • Proficiency in healthcare information systems, electronic health records (EHR), and data analysis tools.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating effectively within a Chief of Staff or similar matrixed leadership structure.
  • Certification in healthcare management (e.g., FACHE, CMPE).
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Kaiser Permanente's integrated healthcare delivery model and operational frameworks.
