Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our dynamic team in Plymouth. As a Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to all road safety regulations. This role requires excellent driving skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to providing outstanding service. You will be an integral part of our logistics operations, contributing directly to our success and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles to transport goods to various destinations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure accurate completion of all necessary paperwork, including delivery notes and tachograph records.
- Adhere to all road transport legislation, including driver hours and vehicle weight limits.
- Load and unload goods safely and efficiently, using appropriate equipment when necessary.
- Maintain effective communication with the transport office regarding progress, delays, and issues.
- Represent the company professionally at all times while on the road and at customer sites.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on health and safety.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category CE) driving license.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Excellent knowledge of EU driving regulations and working time directives.
- Strong understanding of road safety and vehicle maintenance.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility regarding working hours and routes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with diverse cargo types.
- Experience operating curtain-sided trailers or refrigerated units.
- A clean driving record (no more than 6 penalty points).
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor roadside checks.
