Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated E-commerce Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team in Croydon. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and high-performance e-commerce platforms for our diverse client base. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless online shopping experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable e-commerce platform solutions using modern architectural patterns.
- Integrate third-party services, APIs, and microservices to enhance platform functionality and user experience.
- Monitor platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for speed and reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineers to define and deliver new features.
- Ensure platform security, data privacy, and compliance with industry standards.
- Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and non-production environments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining e-commerce platforms or large-scale web applications.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, or PHP.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of API design and development (RESTful, GraphQL).
- Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with specific e-commerce platforms like Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce (Magento), Shopify Plus, or commercetools.
- Knowledge of front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) is a plus.
- Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with performance testing, monitoring tools, and site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
- Understanding of SEO best practices and web accessibility standards.
