Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Human Rights Assistant to join our Public Policy team. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about human rights and eager to contribute to impactful policy work. You will support our policy researchers and advocates in various tasks, including data collection, analysis, report drafting, and monitoring legislative developments. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public policy advocacy within a leading human rights organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on human rights issues, public policy, and legislative developments.
  • Assist in drafting policy briefings, reports, submissions, and advocacy materials.
  • Monitor relevant parliamentary debates, government consultations, and legal cases.
  • Maintain databases of policy information and stakeholder contacts.
  • Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and public events.
  • Respond to information requests and assist with general administrative tasks for the Public Policy team.
  • Contribute to the team's strategic planning and advocacy efforts.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights and public policy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Law, Politics, International Relations, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer experience or internships in a human rights, policy, or advocacy setting.
  • Familiarity with UK political processes and legislative frameworks.
