Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Incident Response Coordinator to join our dedicated team in Whyalla. This pivotal role involves leading and coordinating immediate responses to operational incidents across our transport and logistics network, ensuring the safety of personnel, minimizing environmental impact, and maintaining business continuity. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and reviewing incident response plans, collaborating with various stakeholders, and providing clear communication during critical events. This is a high-impact role requiring sound judgment and the ability to perform under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate immediate response efforts to all operational incidents, including accidents, equipment failures, environmental spills, and security breaches.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive incident response plans and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, emergency services, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders during an incident.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all incidents, including root cause analysis and preventative actions.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and debriefs to identify lessons learned and improve future response capabilities.
- Facilitate training and drills for operational staff on incident response protocols.
- Maintain a detailed log of all incidents, responses, and outcomes.
- Advise management on potential risks and mitigation strategies to enhance operational resilience.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in incident management or emergency response, preferably within the transport, logistics, or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong understanding of safety management systems and regulatory requirements (e.g., WHS, environmental).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to make rapid, sound decisions in critical situations.
- Proficiency in incident reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Certification in Incident Command System (ICS) or similar incident management frameworks.
- Experience with environmental management systems and reporting.
- Knowledge of Australian transport regulations and maritime operations.
