Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer to join our dynamic and growing team in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for intellectual property law to contribute to a diverse caseload, advising clients on a wide range of IP matters including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and design rights. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in safeguarding our clients’ innovations and brands, offering strategic advice, and representing them in contentious and non-contentious IP issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of intellectual property law, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and design rights.
- Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, such as licensing agreements, assignments, and R&D agreements.
- Manage IP portfolios, including trademark and design registrations, renewals, and opposition proceedings.
- Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions.
- Represent clients in IP disputes, including litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
- Advise on IP enforcement strategies and counter-infringement measures.
- Stay abreast of developments in IP law and provide internal training and updates.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development initiatives.
Required Skills
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
- Minimum of 3 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) specialising in Intellectual Property law.
- Demonstrable expertise in trademarks, copyrights, and design rights.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently and as part of a team.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality client service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with patent litigation or patent prosecution.
- Specific industry experience in technology, media, or consumer goods sectors.
- Higher education qualification in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Experience with international IP matters.
