Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Inventory Control Clerk to join our team in Hobart. This is a vital role focused on maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring efficient stock movement within our distribution centre. The position requires a strong commitment to accuracy and adherence to established procedures. Please note that this role does not involve customer phone calls and operates on a shift-work basis, which may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate counting, receiving, and verification of incoming inventory shipments.
  • Monitor stock levels and identify discrepancies through regular audits and cycle counts.
  • Organise and maintain inventory in designated storage locations, ensuring optimal space utilisation.
  • Process outbound orders and prepare items for shipment, verifying accuracy against order details.
  • Utilise warehouse management systems (WMS) to update inventory records and track stock movements.
  • Report any inventory discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies within the warehouse environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Contribute to a clean and organised work environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and inventory system navigation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 15kg, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory control role is a plus, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software (WMS).
  • Current forklift licence (reach truck or counterbalance) is advantageous but not required for initial hiring.
