Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-time Gardener to join our Parks and Environment team. This role involves day work, focusing on the maintenance and beautification of Mandurah’s public gardens, parks, and green spaces. You will be responsible for a variety of horticultural tasks, working outdoors in a dynamic and supportive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy physical work, have a passion for gardening, and wish to contribute to the local community’s aesthetic and environmental health.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general garden maintenance, including weeding, pruning, watering, and mulching.
- Plant and care for various shrubs, flowers, and trees.
- Maintain pathways, garden beds, and public green areas to high standards.
- Operate basic gardening tools and equipment safely.
- Identify and report any pest, disease, or irrigation issues.
- Assist with waste removal and general tidiness of garden sites.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and environmental guidelines.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for gardening.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of plant care or willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Australian Driver's License (Class C).
- Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of local plant species and horticultural practices.
- Current First Aid certification.
