Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Junior IT Support Analyst to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow within a leading global company. You will be responsible for providing first-line technical support to our employees, resolving a variety of IT issues, and ensuring smooth operation of our systems. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal role for candidates with enthusiasm and a foundational understanding of IT concepts, but perhaps limited professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
  • Assist with user account management, password resets, and access permissions.
  • Document support tickets, resolutions, and common issues in the IT service management system.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT support or specialized teams when necessary.
  • Assist with basic IT equipment setup and deployment.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through professional and courteous service.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance IT knowledge and skills.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware components and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a logical approach to technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop a career in IT support.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT-related coursework or certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation).
  • Experience with IT service desk tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management).
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
