Job Description
Aecon Group Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Jackhammer Operator Trainee in Brandon, Manitoba. As a Trainee, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training under the guidance of experienced professionals, learning the safe and effective operation of jackhammers and other essential demolition equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate jackhammers and other hand-held power tools safely and efficiently under direct supervision.
- Assist experienced operators and construction crews with various demolition and site preparation tasks.
- Perform general labor duties, including site cleanup, material handling, and equipment maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and safety concerns.
- Learn and apply best practices for tool operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and endurance to perform demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for long durations.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced operators and supervisors.
- Excellent work ethic and reliability.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all workplace regulations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in various weather conditions.
- No prior experience operating heavy equipment is required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of construction site environments and safety principles.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in physically demanding roles or outdoor work.
