Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Dietetics Intern to join our Hospital Food Service team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospital environment, working alongside experienced dietitians and food service professionals. You will contribute to the provision of high-quality nutritional care for patients, learning about menu planning, therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and patient meal service operations. This is an entry-level position designed for students or recent graduates in Dietetics who are looking to fulfil placement requirements or gain initial practical experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified dietitians in the assessment and planning of patient dietary needs.
- Contribute to menu development and modification to meet various therapeutic requirements.
- Learn and apply principles of food safety and hygiene in a hospital kitchen setting.
- Participate in patient meal service, ensuring accuracy and adherence to dietary prescriptions.
- Observe and contribute to the nutritional education of patients and staff.
- Support the food service team in daily operations, including inventory management and quality control.
- Document observations and activities accurately as required for academic or departmental records.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and relevant training sessions.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Dietetics or Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Basic understanding of nutrition principles and human physiology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive attitude.
- No prior professional experience is required; full training will be provided.
