Job Description

Are you a proactive and enthusiastic student eager to kickstart your career in electrical engineering within the building services sector? Aurecon is looking for a Junior Electrical Intern to join our dynamic team in Southport, Gold Coast. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will support our electrical engineers in various phases of building projects, from conceptual design to project delivery, focusing on systems like power distribution, lighting, and fire protection. No prior professional experience is required; we are looking for a keen mind ready to learn and grow within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist electrical engineers in design and documentation tasks for building services projects.
  • Conduct research on relevant Australian standards, codes, and new technologies.
  • Prepare technical drawings and schematics using CAD software (training provided if needed).
  • Support the team with calculations, reports, and project documentation.
  • Participate in site visits to observe project progress and understand real-world application.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical and hydraulic engineers.
  • Learn and apply Aurecon's quality assurance processes and design methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong academic record and a genuine interest in building services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn new software and engineering principles.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and circuits.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous exposure to building services concepts (e.g., through coursework or personal projects).
