Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Paralegal Intern to join our busy Litigation and Family Law teams. This internship offers a unique opportunity for an aspiring legal professional to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment. You will work closely with our experienced solicitors, assisting with case preparation, legal research, document management, and client communication, providing crucial support to our active caseloads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting legal research and analysis to support ongoing cases in litigation and family law.
  • Assisting with the drafting and preparation of legal documents, including briefs, affidavits, and correspondence.
  • Organising and managing client files, ensuring all documentation is accurately maintained and easily accessible.
  • Liaising with clients, court staff, and other legal professionals under direct supervision.
  • Attending client meetings, court hearings, and mediations to observe and assist.
  • Performing administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the legal teams.
  • Learning and adhering to professional ethics and confidentiality standards.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent paralegal studies program.
  • Strong academic record demonstrating an aptitude for legal concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and contribute to a legal practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an office environment or customer service role.
  • Familiarity with legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Demonstrated interest in litigation or family law through coursework or extracurricular activities.
