Job Description
Are you passionate about the art of printmaking and eager to learn the foundational skills of letterpress and screenprinting? Minuteman Press Red Deer is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Letterpress & Screenprinting Intern to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience, develop their technical skills, and contribute to a creative environment. You will receive comprehensive training in all aspects of traditional and modern printing processes, working alongside experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior printers with letterpress and screenprinting projects.
- Prepare and clean screens, presses, and workstations.
- Mix inks and prepare materials for printing runs.
- Learn and apply proper setup, registration, and printing techniques.
- Handle and organize paper stock and other supplies.
- Assist with quality control and finishing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized studio environment.
- Follow safety protocols and best practices in the print shop.
Required Skills
- Enthusiasm for learning printmaking techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Portfolio demonstrating artistic or design interests (e.g., sketches, digital art, crafts).
- Previous experience in a creative or workshop setting (voluntary or academic).
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) is a plus.
- Enrollment in or completion of a relevant art, design, or vocational program.
