Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Linen Assistant to join our logistics team in Cairns. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient handling, sorting, and preparation of linen for delivery to our hotel and hospital clients. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring our clients receive clean, fresh linen punctually, supporting their daily operations and high standards of service. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and inspect incoming soiled linen according to company standards.
- Operate laundry machinery and equipment safely and efficiently (training provided).
- Fold, pack, and prepare clean linen orders for dispatch to hotels and hospitals.
- Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in the linen processing area.
- Perform inventory counts and report discrepancies as needed.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily operational goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or laundry environment.
- Familiarity with safety procedures in an industrial setting.
- Current driver's license (desirable but not essential for all roles within the team).
