Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable Loading Bay Operative to join our busy team in Coventry. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in logistics, as no prior experience is required – full training will be provided. As a Loading Bay Operative, you will be an integral part of our warehouse operations, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods within our loading bays. Your role will involve ensuring that incoming and outgoing shipments are handled correctly, contributing directly to the smooth flow of our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment or manual handling techniques.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing goods against delivery notes, checking for discrepancies or damages.
  • Move goods to and from designated storage areas within the warehouse.
  • Assist with the picking and packing of orders as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the loading bay and warehouse.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pump trucks, pallet jacks, or, with training, forklifts (if certified).
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate checking of goods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment (though not essential).
  • Basic understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Valid forklift license (reach or counterbalance) is a bonus, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
