Job Description
Are you an early riser looking for a dynamic role that allows you to finish your workday by noon? Lowe’s Canada in Burnaby is seeking a motivated and reliable Loading Dock Assistant to join our team for early morning shifts. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of goods on our loading dock, ensuring products are received, sorted, and dispatched accurately and on time. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to be an integral part of our supply chain, contributing directly to our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently load and unload delivery trucks using appropriate equipment and strict safety protocols.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests and packing slips for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
- Organize and maintain the loading dock area, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and accessibility at all times.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely (training provided if needed).
- Assist with sorting, labelling, and staging merchandise for storage or dispatch to various departments.
- Report any damages to products, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns immediately to supervisors.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, drivers, and other internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects regularly (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments and handling merchandise.
- Reliable and punctual, with a proven commitment to early morning shifts.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Basic communication skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions clearly.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or loading dock environment is an asset.
- Forklift operator certification (an advantage, but not required as training is available).
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or procedures.
- Knowledge of safety procedures for material handling and warehouse operations.
