Job Description

Surrey Community Wheels is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Local Council Minibus Driver for Community Transport. This essential role involves providing safe, reliable, and friendly transportation services to residents within Surrey, helping them access vital community services, appointments, and social activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a minibus according to schedule, traffic laws, and company policies.
  • Assist passengers, including those with mobility challenges, with boarding and alighting the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Provide a friendly and supportive atmosphere for all passengers.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, passenger manifests, and other required documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Handle passenger inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the vehicle.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks related to routes and passengers.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 4 unrestricted BC Driver's License (or willingness and ability to obtain within a specified timeframe, comprehensive training provided).
  • Clean driving record (abstract required upon application).
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong commitment to passenger safety and comfort.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for vehicle checks (e.g., tires, fluid levels).
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or caregiving role.
  • Familiarity with the Surrey area and local routes.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience driving commercial vehicles or larger passenger vehicles.
