Job Description

Laurentian Logistics Group is actively seeking dedicated and experienced Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team based out of Laval, Quebec. This is an exceptional opportunity for qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders, including those requiring visa sponsorship, to establish a rewarding career in Canada. As a Long Haul Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across Canada and potentially into the United States, adhering strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tractor-trailer units in a safe and efficient manner over long distances, adhering to all provincial, federal, and company regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and associated equipment, ensuring all components are in good working order.
  • Secure cargo properly for transport, ensuring loads are stable and safe according to industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, and electronic logging device (ELD) records, ensuring compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics coordinators, and clients regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any issues encountered on route.
  • Perform minor emergency roadside repairs as needed and report any major mechanical issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including those related to hazardous materials if applicable.
  • Represent Laurentian Logistics Group professionally at all times, upholding our reputation for reliability and customer service.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1 (CDL-A) or equivalent Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (long haul preferred).
  • Clean driving abstract and criminal record check.
  • Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) for communication and record-keeping.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of a truck driver, including lifting, bending, and securing loads.
  • A valid passport for potential cross-border operations (Canada/USA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cross-border operations (Canada-USA).
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Experience with various types of freight (e.g., dry van, reefer, flatbed).
  • Air Brake (Z) endorsement.
  • Experience with satellite tracking and navigation systems.
