Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our operations team in Norwich. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our water treatment and wastewater treatment plants. You will execute planned preventative maintenance, respond to reactive breakdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across our sites. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance on a variety of mechanical and electrical plant equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, and control systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, fault reports, and equipment history in our CMMS.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with operations teams, contractors, and other engineers to optimize plant performance.
  • Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support as required.
  • Propose and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an industrial or utilities environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Understanding of PLC systems and basic instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to plant operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Time-served apprenticeship.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Confined Space and Working at Height certifications.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
