Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organised individual to join our Medical Records team as a Medical Records Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career in a clinical environment, as full training will be provided to ensure your success. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and accessible patient records, contributing directly to the quality of care our patients receive. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately file and retrieve patient medical records in both physical and digital formats.
- Process requests for patient information in accordance with privacy regulations and hospital policies.
- Scan and index documents efficiently into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with the management and maintenance of comprehensive physical and digital medical records.
- Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of all patient health information at all times.
- Support clinical and administrative staff with timely access to required patient records.
- Participate actively in departmental quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence related to medical records.
- Perform general administrative duties and support tasks as required by the department.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
- Eagerness to learn new systems and processes, and adapt quickly to change.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an administrative or office support role (non-medical specific).
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology (beneficial but not essential).
- A completed relevant certificate or diploma (e.g., Certificate III in Business Administration).
