Job Description

National Parks & Wildlife Service Cymru is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic National Park Law Enforcement Assistant to join our team in Newport. This entry-level outdoor role is perfect for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to upholding park regulations, assisting visitors, and supporting our conservation efforts. Full training will be provided to equip you with the skills needed to excel in this vital role, working alongside experienced park rangers and law enforcement personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated park areas, both on foot and in vehicles.
- Assist park visitors with information, directions, and ensure adherence to park rules.
- Report observed violations of park regulations to senior staff or law enforcement officers.
- Monitor wildlife and environmental conditions, reporting any unusual activity or concerns.
- Participate in search and rescue operations or emergency response as required.
- Maintain public safety and order within park boundaries.
- Assist with data collection for conservation and resource management projects.
- Engage with the local community and visitors to promote responsible park use.
- Perform basic administrative tasks and maintain accurate records of daily activities.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.
- Physical fitness and ability to walk long distances and navigate varied terrain.

Preferred Qualifications
- Valid UK driving license.
- Basic First Aid or Outdoor Emergency First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in customer service, outdoor recreation, or volunteer conservation work.
- Knowledge of Welsh language (desirable but not essential).
- Familiarity with local flora, fauna, and geography of Welsh National Parks.
