Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Natural Language Processing (NLP) Tech to join our innovative technology team in Port Hedland. This role is crucial in developing and implementing NLP solutions that extract valuable insights from unstructured data across our mining operations. You will work on cutting-edge projects, contributing to data-driven decision-making, enhancing safety protocols, and optimising operational efficiencies. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy NLP models and algorithms for various applications, including text classification, entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and information extraction.
  • Pre-process and clean large datasets of unstructured text data, ensuring quality and readiness for NLP model training.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and operational teams to identify opportunities for NLP application and integrate solutions into existing systems.
  • Evaluate and fine-tune NLP models, monitor performance, and iterate to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NLP research and technologies, applying best practices to projects.
  • Document NLP models, datasets, and development processes for knowledge sharing and reproducibility.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Python and relevant NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers).
  • Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and deep learning architectures (RNNs, Transformers).
  • Experience with data processing and manipulation tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying NLP services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in an industrial or resources sector environment.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
