Job Description
Are you a proactive and curious individual with a passion for technology and a desire to kick-start your career in network administration? Sophos is looking for a Network Administration Intern to join our Enterprise IT team in Oxford. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience with enterprise-grade networking equipment and systems, working alongside experienced professionals. You will learn about network infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance in a fast-paced, global environment. No prior professional experience is required; we are looking for eager learners who are ready to absorb knowledge and contribute to our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior network administrators with daily network monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Support the deployment and configuration of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) under supervision.
- Help document network configurations, procedures, and inventory.
- Participate in the analysis of network performance data and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
- Learn to identify and resolve basic network connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Engage in training sessions and self-study to develop network administration skills.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN)
- Familiarity with operating systems like Windows or Linux
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- High motivation to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS or other network operating systems
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
- Personal projects demonstrating an interest in networking or IT infrastructure
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+)
