Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Nuclear Engineers and Reactor Operators to join our critical operations in Leeds. This is an exceptional opportunity for professionals passionate about nuclear safety and operational excellence. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities, contributing to projects of significant national importance. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor nuclear reactor systems and associated plant equipment according to established procedures and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections, tests, and maintenance tasks on critical plant systems.
- Respond effectively to abnormal conditions and emergencies, implementing corrective actions to ensure plant stability and safety.
- Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify potential issues and optimize system performance.
- Participate in the development and review of operational procedures, safety analyses, and training materials.
- Maintain accurate and detailed operational logs, reports, and documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Support commissioning and decommissioning activities as required.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training to maintain high levels of competence.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific/engineering field.
- Demonstrable understanding of nuclear physics, reactor theory, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a highly regulated, safety-conscious, and team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to meticulously follow complex operational procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC level minimum is required for this role).
- Must be eligible for a UK work visa and demonstrate a commitment to relocate to the Leeds area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
- Prior experience as a Reactor Operator, Nuclear Plant Operator, or similar role in a naval or civil nuclear facility.
- Experience with process control systems and instrumentation in a high-consequence industry.
- Familiarity with UK nuclear regulations and licensing processes (e.g., ONR, EA).
- Certified or eligible for professional engineering accreditation (e.g., CEng).
