Job Description
Are you passionate about working with children but have no formal experience? Little Stars Day Nursery in Southport is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Nursery Assistant. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to start your career in early years education, with full training provided. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive atmosphere for children aged 0-5 years. We believe in nurturing talent and will support you every step of the way to develop your skills and achieve your Early Years qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist nursery staff with daily routines and activities, ensuring the well-being and safety of all children.
- Support children's learning and development through engaging play, storytelling, and creative activities.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment, including tidying up and setting up activity areas.
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks and assist with meal times, encouraging good eating habits.
- Observe and report on children's progress, behaviours, and any concerns to senior staff.
- Build positive, professional relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate actively in all required training and professional development sessions.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and adults.
- Patience, empathy, and a consistently positive and nurturing attitude.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
- An eagerness to learn, follow guidance, and undertake comprehensive training.
- The legal right to live and work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of child development, even if gained informally through caring for family members or volunteering.
- An up-to-date First Aid certification, or a strong willingness to obtain one upon employment.
- Any prior experience caring for children in an informal setting (e.g., babysitting, volunteering, family care).
