Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Online Civic Engagement Assistant to join our remote team. In this pivotal role, you will support our civic engagement initiatives by managing online communications, coordinating virtual events, and facilitating community interaction through various digital platforms. This position is ideal for someone passionate about community impact and eager to contribute to meaningful social change from a home office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage online community forums, social media channels, and digital platforms related to civic engagement.
- Draft and schedule engaging content for newsletters, social media posts, and website updates to promote community participation.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of virtual town halls, workshops, and other online engagement events.
- Provide technical support and logistical assistance for online meetings and webinars.
- Track and report on engagement metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Respond to community inquiries and feedback in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues as necessary.
- Maintain and update databases of community contacts and engagement activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated outreach efforts.
- Conduct research on best practices in online civic engagement and digital advocacy.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) and content management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
- Basic knowledge of online meeting software (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).
- A passion for community service and civic engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Communications, Marketing, Political Science, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
- Experience in a non-profit or community-based organization.
- Understanding of the political landscape and community needs in Pierce County, WA.
