Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our dynamic team in Portland, Oregon. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional looking to make a significant impact within a patient-focused practice. As an Optometrist at Visionworks, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing and treating ocular diseases, prescribing corrective lenses, and managing patient care. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including testing for visual acuity, depth perception, color perception, and the ability to focus and coordinate the eyes.
  • Diagnose and treat ocular diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures to remove foreign bodies from the eye.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgery.
  • Educate patients about eye health, proper contact lens care, and vision correction options.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Collaborate with optical staff to ensure seamless patient care and eyewear dispensing.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current state licensure as an Optometrist in Oregon or eligibility to obtain.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in optometry.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centric environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment (e.g., OCT, visual field, fundus camera).
  • Specialization or advanced training in specific areas of optometry (e.g., low vision, pediatrics, contact lenses).
  • Multilingual abilities, especially Spanish, to better serve our diverse patient base.
