Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Painter and Decorator to join our growing team in Newbury. As a key member of our construction and refurbishment projects, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint, wallpaper, and other finishes to a high standard. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to health and safety regulations, ensuring all work contributes to the aesthetic appeal and longevity of our properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare various surfaces for painting and decorating, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming.
  • Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and other finishes using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality, matching specifications and client expectations.
  • Perform touch-ups and repairs to existing paintwork as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and site regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to ensure timely project completion.
  • Handle and store materials safely and efficiently, minimising waste.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in all aspects of painting and decorating, including surface preparation and various application methods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for quality finishes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices within a construction environment.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
