As a Patient Transport Assistant, you will be responsible for the safe and comfortable transportation of patients to and from various healthcare facilities, appointments, and their homes. You will work closely with medical professionals and a supportive team to provide essential services to our community. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients, including those with varying mobility levels, to and from medical appointments, hospitals, and other care facilities.
  • Assist patients with transfers to and from beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Ensure the comfort, dignity, and privacy of all patients during transport.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of transport vehicles and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, medical staff, and team members.
  • Accurately complete necessary documentation and reports.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and relevant health regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently, as trained.
  • Operate communication equipment responsibly.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.

Required Skills

  • No prior experience in patient transport required – full training provided!
  • Valid Australian Driver's License (minimum C class) with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment safely.
  • Strong commitment to punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Basic computer literacy for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications (training can be provided).
  • Knowledge of the Glenorchy and greater Hobart area.
  • Previous experience in customer service or a care-giving role.
