As a Patient Transport Assistant, you will be responsible for the safe and comfortable transportation of patients to and from various healthcare facilities, appointments, and their homes. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, including those with varying mobility levels, to and from medical appointments, hospitals, and other care facilities.
- Assist patients with transfers to and from beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Ensure the comfort, dignity, and privacy of all patients during transport.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of transport vehicles and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, medical staff, and team members.
- Accurately complete necessary documentation and reports.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and relevant health regulations.
- Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently, as trained.
- Operate communication equipment responsibly.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.
Required Skills
- No prior experience in patient transport required – full training provided!
- Valid Australian Driver's License (minimum C class) with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment safely.
- Strong commitment to punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation purposes.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications (training can be provided).
- Knowledge of the Glenorchy and greater Hobart area.
- Previous experience in customer service or a care-giving role.
