Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to start your career in healthcare? Johns Hopkins Hospital is actively seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Patient Transporters. This is an entry-level position and NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. We are ready to provide immediate hire and comprehensive training to equip you with all the skills needed to succeed. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a crucial role in the patient experience, ensuring the safe and timely movement of patients throughout the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to and from various hospital departments (e.g., admissions, discharge, radiology, operating rooms).
- Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport, including proper use of safety restraints and equipment.
- Monitor patients during transport and report any changes in condition or concerns to nursing staff immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment.
- Assist with patient transfers to and from beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs.
- Respond promptly to transport requests.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology (will be provided through training).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (will be provided upon hire if not already obtained).
