Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Physical Education Teacher to join our thriving Sports Department. The successful candidate will inspire students across various age groups, delivering engaging and challenging PE lessons that promote physical literacy, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles. This role requires a commitment to fostering a love for sport and physical activity, developing athletic talent, and contributing to our extensive extra-curricular sports program.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging PE lessons across a broad range of sports and activities to students from junior to senior levels.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback and contributing to reports.
- Organise, coach, and supervise extra-curricular sports clubs, practices, and fixtures, including those outside of regular school hours.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during physical activities and sports events.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the PE curriculum and departmental initiatives.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and whole-school activities.
- Maintain sports equipment and facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in Physical Education or a related sports science discipline.
- Demonstrable experience teaching a wide variety of sports and physical activities.
- Excellent knowledge of child development and pedagogy within a PE context.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching specific sports to a high level (e.g., hockey, rugby, netball, athletics, swimming).
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience working within an independent school setting.
- Knowledge of sports leadership and officiating qualifications.
