Job Description
Join Banner Health as a Physical Therapy Aide and play a vital role in our patient care team in Downtown Tucson. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare, offering comprehensive on-the-job training. As an aide, you will be instrumental in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment, preparing equipment, and directly assisting licensed physical therapists with patient care. Your contributions will help ensure a smooth and efficient clinic operation, allowing our therapists to focus on providing top-tier treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize physical therapy equipment and treatment areas diligently before and after patient use.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for scheduled appointments.
- Assist patients with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Help patients with the setup and proper use of exercise equipment under therapist supervision.
- Manage laundry duties, including washing, drying, and folding linens and gowns.
- Monitor inventory of supplies, stock treatment areas, and notify staff when supplies are low.
- Perform light clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling, and organizing patient records as assigned.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patients and staff.
- Adhere to all Banner Health policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, bending, and pushing.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capacity to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
- Basic computer proficiency for administrative tasks.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills within a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare, customer service, or patient-facing role.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.
