Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Pipeline Trench Backfiller to join our team on a major pipeline project in the Odessa, TX area. This is an essential entry-level role responsible for manual labor related to pipeline trenching and backfilling operations. You will primarily be involved in the crucial task of ensuring pipeline integrity and site restoration by accurately shoveling and compacting dirt around newly laid pipelines, as well as assisting with other general labor duties as needed. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively as part of a crew in varying outdoor conditions. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually shovel dirt and other fill materials into and around pipeline trenches.
- Assist in the precise backfilling and compaction of trenches to ensure pipeline protection and proper ground contour.
- Operate basic hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and tampers efficiently and safely.
- Support pipe-laying crews by moving materials, tools, and equipment as directed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, disposing of debris appropriately.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and site regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the construction team to meet project deadlines.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately.
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned by the site supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including lifting, bending, digging, and standing.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Commitment to working safely and adhering to all safety protocols.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or other outdoor labor roles is a plus, but not required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working in a pipeline or oil and gas environment.
