Job Description

Canadian Blood Services is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Plasma Donation Center Phlebotomists in Kamloops. This is an exciting opportunity for those new to the healthcare field, as we provide comprehensive paid training. You’ll play a vital role in collecting life-saving plasma, directly contributing to the well-being of patients in need. Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture for plasma collection following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Monitor donors throughout the donation process, ensuring their comfort and responding to any adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed donor records, including eligibility screening and donation information.
- Prepare and process plasma units for shipment according to regulatory standards.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain a sterile work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to donors, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience.
- Adhere to all local, provincial, and national health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to learn and apply sterile techniques and venipuncture procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting (not required, but a plus).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
