Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cardiff. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure and platforms that power our critical applications. You will work closely with development teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and security across our systems, driving automation and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on leading platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
- Implement and manage container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal uptime and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate new features, optimize application deployments, and provide platform support.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices, compliance standards, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide operational support for critical systems.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and tools to improve platform efficiency and capabilities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
- Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
- Strong background in Linux/Unix system administration and networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate).
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
- Experience working in a regulated industry or large enterprise environment.
- Understanding of microservices architectures and API design principles.
