Job Description

Avon and Somerset Police are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Police Community Support Trainees in Bristol. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity where no previous experience is required, as full comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with all the skills you need to succeed. As a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), you will be the visible face of policing, working directly within neighbourhoods to provide reassurance, tackle anti-social behaviour, and support our police officers. You will play a crucial role in building trust and confidence between the police and the diverse communities we serve. This is an on-site role, deeply embedded within the community of Bristol. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct foot patrols in designated areas to maintain a visible police presence.
  • Engage with members of the public, listening to their concerns, and offering advice.
  • Gather intelligence to support crime prevention and detection efforts.
  • Deal with minor incidents, resolve conflicts, and provide initial responses to calls for service.
  • Issue fixed penalty notices for various offences (e.g., littering, anti-social behaviour).
  • Support police officers at larger incidents, events, and crime scenes.
  • Work collaboratively with local partners to address community issues.
  • Promote crime prevention initiatives and offer personal safety advice.

  • Must be aged 18 or over.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a full UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of the Bristol area.
  • Previous experience in a customer service, public-facing, or community role.
