Job Description

The Metropolitan Police Service is looking for dedicated individuals to join us as Police Community Support Trainees. No prior experience in policing is required, as we will provide comprehensive training to equip you with all the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this vital role. As a PCSO Trainee, you will be a visible presence, engaging with the public, offering reassurance, and helping to tackle local issues that matter most to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas on foot or bicycle to provide a visible police presence and deter crime.
  • Engage with members of the public, offering advice, reassurance, and assistance.
  • Respond to calls for service for minor incidents and support police officers at more serious scenes.
  • Gather intelligence and information from the community to help prevent and detect crime.
  • Assist in managing traffic, conducting house-to-house enquiries, and crowd control at events.
  • Support victims of crime and vulnerable individuals, signposting them to appropriate services.
  • Record information accurately and prepare reports on community issues and incidents.
  • Participate in community engagement activities, meetings, and local initiatives.
  • Enforce low-level crime and antisocial behaviour, issuing fixed penalty notices where appropriate.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and a UK resident for at least 3 years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of the Ealing area and its diverse communities.
  • Ability to speak a second language relevant to London's communities.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or public service role (not essential, but beneficial).
