Job Description
Tolko Industries is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement / Purchasing Manager to join our team in The Pas, Manitoba. This pivotal role involves leading our procurement strategy, ensuring cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, and optimizing supplier relationships to support our operational needs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving efficiency and sustainability within our supply chain. We are pleased to offer visa support for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with company objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing and vendor selection to contract negotiation and performance management.
- Identify and evaluate new suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
- Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate risks.
- Monitor market trends and commodity prices to inform purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs and ensure timely delivery.
- Oversee inventory management and optimize stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and lead a small procurement team, fostering their professional growth.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex supplier relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., SCMP, CPSM).
- Experience in the forestry, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sector.
- Familiarity with international trade and customs regulations.
