Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in property maintenance? Cogir Immobilier is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Property Maintenance Assistant (Handyman/Mate) to join our team in Chicoutimi. This is an entry-level position perfect for individuals with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a desire to develop practical trade skills. No prior experience is required as we provide comprehensive on-the-job training. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning the ropes of maintaining various properties, ensuring they are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing for our tenants and residents. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior maintenance technicians with a variety of repair and maintenance tasks across our properties.
- Perform minor repairs such as patching walls, changing lightbulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and adjusting doors.
- Conduct routine inspections of properties to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Help with preventative maintenance tasks to ensure systems and equipment are operating efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance workshops and storage areas.
- Respond to basic tenant maintenance requests in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist with groundskeeping duties, including snow removal, landscaping, and waste management, as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Learn and adapt to new maintenance techniques and equipment under supervision.
- Complete general custodial duties as required.
Required Skills
- Strong desire to learn and develop practical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of hand tools and willingness to learn proper usage.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Valid Quebec Driver's License and access to reliable transportation (asset).
- Fluency in French; working knowledge of English is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a role requiring manual labor or customer service (e.g., landscaping, retail, warehousing).
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, or carpentry fundamentals (e.g., from personal projects or vocational courses).
