Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Public Beaches Maintenance Worker to join our early morning shifts. This on-site position is crucial for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of Swift Current’s public beaches and waterfront areas. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily clean-up of beach areas, including litter collection, raking sand, and clearing natural debris.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of public washrooms, changing facilities, and picnic areas adjacent to beaches.
  • Inspect beach equipment, such as lifeguard stands, signage, and play structures, reporting any maintenance needs or safety hazards.
  • Operate light power tools and equipment (e.g., leaf blowers, small utility vehicles) for grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with minor repairs and upkeep tasks as directed by supervisors or during routine checks.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and departmental guidelines.
  • Work effectively and independently in an early morning shift, often starting before sunrise.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and keen attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work to ensure punctuality for early morning shifts.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to follow all instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, custodial work, or similar outdoor labor roles.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
