Job Description

Summit Building Services Group is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals for an Entry Level Trade position as a Public Facilities Handyman / Maintenance technician in Red Deer. No prior experience is required – we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to the upkeep of essential public spaces. This role offers comprehensive on-the-job training, mentorship, and a clear path for growth within our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians with general maintenance and repair tasks across various public facilities.
- Perform routine inspections of facilities and report any issues or potential hazards.
- Learn and apply basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting techniques under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures diligently.
- Provide excellent customer service to facility users and internal stakeholders.
- Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new tasks quickly.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Basic understanding of safety practices or willingness to learn.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (for travel between sites).
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in how things work.
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role (e.g., landscaping, general labor, warehouse) is an asset but not required.
- First Aid and CPR certification (training can be provided).
