Job Description
Join Republic Services as a Recycling Plant Quality Sorter and play a crucial role in our mission to divert waste from landfills! We are looking for dedicated individuals for immediate hire to work in our state-of-the-art recycling facility. In this vital position, you will be responsible for inspecting and sorting recyclable materials on a conveyor belt, ensuring only quality materials proceed through the recycling process. This is a physically active role that requires attention to detail and a commitment to safety. Full training will be provided, and all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is supplied to ensure your safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and remove contaminants or non-recyclable items from the sorting line.
- Sort various recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, and metals into designated bins or chutes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient sorting operations.
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify different materials.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or general labor setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with recycling processes or materials is beneficial but not required.
