Job Description
Are you an early riser looking for consistent work with weekly pay? Republic Services is seeking dedicated and physically fit individuals to join our team as Refuse Loaders/Bin Collectors in Bloomington, IL. In this essential role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently collecting solid waste and recycling materials from residential and commercial locations along designated routes. This is a demanding but rewarding position that plays a crucial part in community hygiene and environmental health. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently collect residential and commercial refuse and recycling materials along designated routes.
- Operate compaction mechanisms and other hydraulic controls on the refuse truck.
- Tag and leave refuse/recycling that is not in compliance with company policies or local regulations.
- Assist the driver in backing up the vehicle and navigating tight spaces.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with vehicle cleanliness.
- Provide excellent customer service by being courteous and respectful to the public.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly (up to 50-75 lbs).
- Stamina for continuous physical exertion, including bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work.
- Familiarity with Bloomington-Normal area routes.
